No more losing yarn needles & stitch markers in your project bag! This organizer will make sure all your small knitting & crochet items are easy to find.

I’ve been keeping my knit & crochet notions in an ordinary zipper pouch for years, but I’ve finally found the perfect solution for keeping them all organized!  This organizer is my new favorite pouch for knitting & crochet tools, and I think you’ll love it, too.

Knitting needles and crochet hooks may be the most important tools among your craft supplies, but storage, organization, and portability are also needful in every crafter’s tool kit.

Knitting & Crochet Project Bag Buyer’s Guide

I love a good project bag for carrying my yarn and projects with me wherever I’m going, and if you’re looking for a larger project bag, check out my Project Bag Buyer’s Guide here.

But project bags typically don’t have dozens of tiny pockets for all the little knick-knacks you’ll need to keep with your project.  Most of us will often use smaller zipper pouches to keep all our small items in one place.

While an ordinary zipper pouch can work, having all the notions in that one compartment can make it take longer to find what you’re looking for.  I don’t love having to fish through the bottom of my zip pouch to find a stitch marker, and eventually dumping out the contents of the bag to be able to see everything and find the one little thing I need.

My New Favorite Notions Pouch for Knitting & Crochet Tools

This is why I am so excited about the new organizer that I’ve been using for my knitting & crochet tools.  These accordion-style bags open wide, with individual pockets and elastic loops for every item inside.

This style of bag is inspired by the original Tech Pouch from Peak Design.  Their bags are excellent quality, designed for traveling and for hauling camera gear.  The Tech Pouch and Small Tech Pouch are loaded with little pockets, compartments, and slots for keeping lots of small items organized.

There are lots of other brands, though, who are selling their own ‘knock-off’ versions of the Tech Pouch, at more affordable prices.  These bags vary from one brand to another, with different pocket configurations, but share the accordion-style structure.  Many also have handles on the top, so you can grab them easily.

The pink bag shown in these photos is the Bagsmart Electronics Organizer Pouch, in the Medium size.

I have several of these bags from different brands, and love using them for organizing small items.  Most are a bit larger, but I have been loving this smaller one for storing my scissors, yarn needles, row counter, stitch markers, measuring tape, and more.

The Convenience of Having So Many Pockets

Keeping all these individual items separated does cause the organizer to take up slightly more space inside a larger bag than an ordinary zipper pouch would take.  However, it is worth it to me to be able to easily find everything when I need it.

I can open up this bag and set it on the table next to me, and grab any item I need without having to dig around in a pouch (or the bottom of my project bag) to find it.

The shape of this pouch fits very well inside of a tote, backpack, or other yarn bag.  If I need to, I could even keep a few crochet hooks or circular knitting needles for my current project in the large open slots on either side of the main compartment.

What’s in my notions bag?

See what’s in my bag, and get a quick overview of its features in the video below.

The smaller pouch that I am using is perfect size for the knitting and crochet accessories that I carry with my projects, but if you prefer a larger capacity, many of the other options listed below are a bit larger, and will hold more stuff.

If this seems like something that would be helpful to you, you can shop the bags I use or other similar bags here:
