If you’re looking for an all-purpose acrylic yarn with a premium feel, this yarn is a great choice!
If an acrylic yarn is good quality, soft, and not scratchy, I love it. Acrylics are machine washable, and usually pretty inexpensive.
But unfortunately, there are some brands of acrylic yarn that are cheap, plasticky, and very scratchy.
So, sometimes I hesitate to try a new acrylic yarn, not knowing how it will feel when made into a project. This is especially difficult for me, since I do most of my yarn shopping online.
I got a chance to feel Lion Brand Jeans Colors in a store before I bought it, and it seemed to be of good quality. So I decided to give it a try.
After swatching with it, I chose to use it in my Cowl Neck Tee. It’s a great all-purpose yarn, but with a more premium, expensive feel.
Lion Brand Jeans Colors is an offshoot of their Jeans line. These yarns have a slightly heathered look to them, dyed in denim-inspired colorways. The color I used is called “Khaki”, and it’s a warm shade of beige with a touch of cream.
It’s a #4 Worsted Weight yarn, and made of 100% acrylic. Because it’s acrylic, it’s machine washable, which I love. Jeans Colors is not one of those scratchy acrylics, but it is very soft and smooth. I’m not sure how to describe it, but it has a slightly different feel to it than your typical “standard” premium acrylic yarns. It doesn’t have much fuzz, just a smooth softness to the surface.
From working with this yarn, it seems to me that it is made of many thin strands, or “plies”, whereas most yarns are made of fewer, thicker plies. I think this is why it’s not real fuzzy, but if you knit or crochet too fast with it, the thin plies can split occasionally. This doesn’t really bother me, though, as it only happens every once in awhile.
I knitted a swatch with the yarn, and crocheted an entire top out of it. I found that the fabric made with this yarn has a nice drape to it, especially after blocking.
Overall, I think Jeans Colors is a great all-purpose acrylic yarn, perfect for any project where you want an easy-care fiber with a high-quality feel.
I am looking for Lion brand Acrylic Jeans yarn in stonewashed and faded.
Pls. Let me know if you have them in stock. Thanks.
Hi! I don’t sell any yarn on my site. If you’re looking to purchase Lion Brand Jeans yarn, you can get it straight from Lion Brand here. They have both colors you mentioned in stock. I hope this helps!
