I can’t believe it’s already December! Check out my top 10 favorite gift items for knitters and crocheters.
1. ArtBin Yarn Drum – Periwinkle
I own this bag in “Pink” and have been using it for awhile. I love everything about it. It is a very sturdy storage solution with many great features. This item is a #1 Best Seller on Amazon.
2. Clover Amour Crochet Hook Gift Set
I have been using these crochet hooks for about 7 months now, and they are the best hooks I have ever tried. The soft touch handles are ergonomically shaped for the most comfortable crochet experience. Since the handles are thicker, I do not have to grip them as tightly as ordinary hooks. As a result, my hands do not cramp as much as with a regular crochet hook. The finish on the metal part of the hook allows the yarn to move back and forth more easily, but still provides enough friction to keep the yarn from falling off the hook. I have found that I can crochet much faster with these hooks than with aluminum or bamboo hooks. I recommend this set which includes the case, as it is nearly impossible to find a case that has big enough slots for the thicker handles of these hooks. Set includes 10 sizes of hooks and the zippered case. This is a great deal, as the individual hooks cost $6-$7 apiece.
3. WHATWEARS Knitting Accessory Kit
This little set is an amazing deal considering all of the tools you get. Includes yarn needles, cable needles, stitch holders, point protectors, several varieties of stitch markers, and much more, all in one case. You would pay that much for just the stitch holders, cable needles, and point protectors if you purchased all of these items separately.
4. Hand Operated Yarn Ball Winder
This yarn winder has saved me so much time winding up leftover yarn into balls. An indispensable tool to any knitter or crocheter, this compact yarn winder creates center-pull yarn cakes out of messy, half-used skeins of yarn.
5. Up, Down All-Around Stitch Dictionary
This knitting stitch dictionary is one-of-a-kind, providing charts and instructions for working 157 stitch patterns from the top-down, bottom-up, back-and-forth, or in-the-round. I also love that the writer gives an index of stitch patterns organized by the stitch multiple, making it much easier to find the perfect stitch pattern for your project.
6. Lion Brand Bonbons Yarn, Brights
I used these Lion Brand BonBons in “Brights” for my banner photos (see the top of this page). BonBons are small balls of yarn in a set of many colors. With BonBons, you do not need to buy a bunch of large skeins of yarn for one small multicolored project. This item is a #1 Best Seller on Amazon.
Options Interchangeable Caspian Circular Knitting Needle Set
7. Knit Picks Options Interchangeable Circular Knitting Needle Set – Caspian
I have been using these interchangeable knitting needles for almost a year. They are definitely the best quality, most beautiful knitting needles I have ever used. The KnitPicks Options needles are made from laminated birch with a super-smooth finish. The different-sized tips attach to the memory-free cables seamlessly, so stitches do not get caught on the join. I find that I can knit faster and more comfortably on the KnitPicks needles than on bamboo or aluminum needles.
8. Knit Picks Blocking Mats
Blocking is one of the most important steps of any knit or crochet project. These blocking mats interlock like puzzle pieces for a blocking surface that is customizable to each project. Simply connect your mats to create a big enough surface for your project, shape the project and pin it to the mat, lightly spray your project with water, and allow to dry. Easy!
9. Knifty Knitter Assorted Loom Series
If hand knitting is not your thing, try loom knitting. Loom knitting is much easier to learn than regular hand knitting, and does not cause the hands and wrists to tire after many hours of working on a project. This set includes everything needed to loom knit many different types of projects: 4 looms, a hook, a yarn needle, and instructions. This set is a #1 Best Seller on Amazon.
10. Addi Express King Size Knitting Machine
Last, but certainly not least, the Addi Kingsize knitting machine. I own this machine and have made quite a few things with it. Although it is an investment, it saves a ton of time (it will knit 20+ times faster than hand knitting). I can easily knit an entire round (46 stitches) of knitting in approximately 2-3 seconds. I have also knitted flat panels on my machine. While a little knitting experience is helpful, you do not need any previous knitting experience to use the Addi King machine. I recommend watching other people use this machine on YouTube, as there are many helpful tutorial videos to help you learn to use the machine. Last week, I made 5 tubular infinity scarves in one day on my Addi King!
